Short biography
Evangeline Anderson is a registered MRI tech who would rather be writing. And yes, she is nerdy enough to have a bumper sticker that says “I’d rather be writing.” Honk if you see her! She is thirty-something and lives in Florida with a husband, a son, and two cats. She had been writing erotic fiction for her own gratification for a number of years before it occurred to her to try and get paid for it. To her delight, she found that it was actually possible to get money for having a dirty mind and she has been writing paranormal and Sci-fi erotica steadily ever since.

Masks is a stand-alone, erotic, contemporary romance novelette. Chloe is a shy, retiring, elementary school teacher who hasn’t had much luck when it comes to dating. She’s always felt like she’s lived in the shadow of her identical twin sister, Zoe, who she views as far more elegant and outgoing. Despite knowing that Zoe is adventurous, Chloe is shocked when her sister confesses that she’s a dominatrix. An injured Zoe wants Chloe to switch places with her for one night to service an show more important client. Zoe says it will be easy as long as she follows three rules: Don’t lose control of the situation, don’t have sex with the client, and don’t ever take off the mask she’ll be wearing. Chloe isn’t sure how she got talked into such a harebrained scheme, but next thing she knows she’s answering the door of Zoe’s townhouse to find a tall, muscular man in a sexy leather mask who makes her forget everything Zoe told her. Soon Chloe discovers that Mark is anything but the submissive she’d been led to believe he was. Instead he’s an alpha who quickly takes over the scene, sending Chloe into paroxysms of lust that scramble her brain. Before the night is over, she’s broken the first two rules, but she’s had the most memorable sex of her life and found that she and Mark actually have a lot in common. She decides to throw the final rule out the window, too, and take off their masks, but little does she know that both Mark and his mask are hiding secrets that could ruin her budding feelings for him.

Masks has been on my TBR pile for a long time, and I’m glad that I finally got around to reading it. It wasn’t exactly a perfect story. I admit Chloe warming up so quickly to having sex with a complete stranger was a little odd for me, but I was willing to go with the flow. I decided that she could have been trusting her sister’s judgment, since Zoe had interviewed Mark ahead of time, not to mention, her own body’s responses to him. And Mark is admittedly ooooh, soooo sexy! He’s an alpha cinnamon roll hero who is sweet and gentle while taking charge, a delightful dirty talker, and a scrumptiously skillful lover. Then he reveals why he’s wearing the mask and later why he agreed to this scenario in the first place, both of which make him very sympathetic. And on top of that he’s a wealthy geek. Oh, be still my heart!:-) I don’t think anyone could have written a more perfect hero for me if they tried. [Swoon] I liked Chloe, too. She’s sweet and awkward, totally out of her element trying to pretend to be a dominatrix, so it was probably a good thing that Mark quickly put her out of her misery so to speak. Initially she’s very accepting of Mark. However, when she finds out how he ended up there, she just completely cuts him off at the knees. This is where I would have liked to see the author explain a little better why Chloe felt the way she did. If there had been more background, I might have understood her reaction, but with what little was given, it felt a bit over-the-top for the circumstances, especially since she and Mark had experienced such a deep, visceral connection in just a few hours. It wasn’t a deal-breaker for me, though, because it gave Mark an opportunity to do a little more wooing. I’m glad that Chloe finally allowed him to explain and gave him another chance. Otherwise, I would have thought she’d completely lost her mind to give up a guy like him.:-D So, overall, Masks was a deliciously steamy little nugget of a tale that really hit the spot. It was my first read by Evangeline Anderson, but it’s left me very open to trying more of her works.

Note: This book contains explicit language and sexual situations. However, for a story featuring dominatrix garb and a BDSM dungeon, the content is pretty tame, with only one relatively mild scene of bondage and a finger at the back door.

Just when I thought it couldn't get any better, this happens!

This series never ceases to amaze me. In "Chained" we are introduced to a bit more of the Yonnie Six culture as well as a completely new and terrifying planet. The author has an amazing imagination and I always enjoy discovering new types of plants, creatures, an alien cuisine. As horrible as the customs of Yonnie Six can be it certainly brings up some interesting situations.

Maggie is such a sweet girl, but very brave as well. She show more cannot stand to see any kind of injustice, especially when someone is in pain. Although she was a very intelligent young woman, she was a bit clumsy. I really enjoyed getting to know more about her. She was definitely a character I would love to have as a friend. Her and Kor were so much fun and there was never a dull moment between the two.

Kor was arrogant and quick to anger, but also very loving and loyal to a fault. I lived getting to know him and found him to have a mischievous nature and sense of humor. He was also fiercely protective of those he loved.

Aside from these memorable characters I also enjoyed meeting two new ones if the twin kindred variety. They were really intriguing and have me already anxious and eager to read the next book in the kindred series!

Fans of the kindred series are in for a real treat with "Chained"!

This is, hands down, my favorite book so far in this series. And I’ll tell you why. As mentioned in some of the less favorable reviews, the other Kindred brides were flawed and weak, having to overcome their own issues before they accepted the bonding with their Kindred males. There was a lot of drama, see-sawing back and forth, which makes a good story, but can be a bit drawn out, like with Lauren and Xairn. But, with Nadiah and Rast, it was the total opposite. Rast was the person that show more had issues to overcome.

We were introduced to Rast in Found, and he wasn’t a very likable character. But, we knew there was more to him than met the eye. He was, after all, a Kindred, he just didn’t realize it. It’s his past and what type of Kindred he is that takes up down this fun story line. Once I understood his background, the loss of his dear, older sister, and how his mother and father perceived him, I couldn’t help but feel for the poor guy.

Nadiah, on the other hand, is a great strong female lead. Though young, she knew she always wanted to be bonded with a Kindred Warrior. But her pure blood Tranq Primd parents had other plans. When she was barely a baby, she was blood bonded to another pure blood Tranq Prime male, Y’dex. Y’dex is a cruel, evil man, who you’ll love to hate. He only sees Nadiah as a possession, someone he can torture through the blood bond their parents established between them. The only way Nadiah can break the blood bond is if a Kindred warrior challenges Y’dew. Even though everyone thought Rast was Human, and not Kindred, he accepted the challenge, and him and Nadiah went to Traq Prim to challenge Y’dex. This is my favorite part of the book.

Because it was Rast going through the inner turmoil’s, I feel we get to know him better than any of the other Kindred warriors. Even Xairn. I feel Nadiah and Rast make the best couple, so far, out of all the ones we’ve been introduced to at this point.

My only complaint, which I mentioned before, is all the proofreading errors. At this time I’ve already read book 6, and Evangeline did finally hire a better editor, but there are still problems in book 6. So, sadly, I’m going to have to bump my review down to 4 feathers.

If you’re looking for a long alien romance series, you need to give the Kindred Brides a try. I highly recommend it.

Elise suffered a trauma that we, the reader, are led to believe was sexual in nature. She has pushed the memory into the farthest recesses of her mind to cope. Merrick is a half-breed, part beast kindred and part tranq kindred. He is huge, fierce, and has a wicked facial scar that adds to his intimidation factor. Both of them have a hard time belonging, they go through the motions of life but are not living show more it. Our H/H are not getting a long at the start of the book despite their obvious connection. They have to put this aside when Elise becomes ill from her extended stay in stasis. Sort of like freezer burn for the soul. They share a bond but it is not stable, which makes it dangerous. To sever the bond they must retrieve a sacred plant from Rageron, the beast kindred planet. The mission is dangerous. Though Elise would prefer distance from Merrick, she must have him intimately near to survive the stasis sickness. On their journey they explore the depth of their feelings for one another and try to heal the hurts of the past.

I have to applaud Evangeline on her portrayal of a sexual assault survivor. The flashbacks Elise suffered were uncomfortable and intense. This is amazing considering she never gets very graphic with the imagery of the attacks. Merrick's patience with Elise over her past, his willingness to forgo his needs to meet hers proves the depths of his love for her. I was confused for a split second over how Elise could forget she had a fiancee, but stasis sickness and her defense mechanisms she uses for unpleasant memories makes it plausible.
