Interesting Age of Fighting Sail book that takes you to a new locale, India. Though at peace with the French, they are still fighting them in their Mughal Navy guise. Lively, with enough action to sustain interest. as an ensign, overcomes horrible family history to succeed.

Good story, excellent nautical details and a realistic setting-the Siege of Toulon. John Fury, acting lieutenant , finds himself landing troops, commanding a fort with soldiers and rescuing a fair maiden, French, of course. Moves along and is quite an enjoyable read.
In 1792, Fury sets sail in HMS Amazon as a 17 year old midshipman with his uncle as his captain. Initially high spirited and not too carefull doing his duties, he tries he patience of his officers and the members of the crew. After a friend is killed because of his high jinks, he decides to buckle down and become a good officer.

When his ship is sent out to track down two missing East India Co. vessels, in the resulting battle he begins to prove his worth. The novel is full of battles between show more and amongst sailing ships including information on how a ship's captain manoeuvres the vessel in the battle so he has the advantage.

I would another of his novels if I found one.
