Atomic Swarm (Dot Robot #2) by Jason Bradbury

Jackson Farley is now living in the US, undertaking a robotic engineering course (at MIT) headed up by J.P. English, the father of his friend Brooke.
Everything should be going well, especially as the dot.com billionaire, Devlin Lear, is dead. He can no longer threaten the world with his rogue robotics.
Brooke and Jackson still manage to get themselves into trouble and Jackson senses that there are more sinister events starting to take place, although he can't quite explian what.
