Short biography
Jo-Anne Christensen is the popular author of numerous Ghost House books, including the best-selling Campfire Ghost Stories, Haunted Halloween Stories, Haunted Hotels and Ghost Stories of Christmas. Jo-Anne was raised in small-town Western Canada. She says the somewhat limited local entertainment options - mostly curling and hockey - led to an early love of reading, particularly anything with a paranormal flavor.

Jo-Anne's fascination with the unusual quite naturally led to a ten-year career in radio advertising but, in 1993, she left radio to pursue two equally strong ambitions: a life of freelance writing and the determination to never again write another sixty seconds of hard-sell used-car copy.

One of the most heartwarming books I've ever read! Angels, gifts from the other side, reunions, whispery warnings, hope and faith. During Christmas, there is magic in the air and all things are possible. This is the true meaning of Christmas. The birth of hope, the beginning of unconditional Love as the Saviour's light shines upon us. In this volume, instead of dread, you will find hope. Instead of spooky spectres, you will find Angels. This is Christmas enclosed within the pages of a book, true to the Dickensian spirit.… (more)

This is the third book of Saskatchewan ghost stories written by this author. This one had a few chapters that were a bit different, though. In addition to the ghost stories from around the province, she interviewed a few groups of ghost hunters based in Saskatchewan.

This had me scared enough – when reading by myself at night – to not head down to the basement after reading, before bed, to scoop the cat’s litter box down there! The chapters on the ghost hunters was unexpected, but surprisingly interesting. Although (sadly), none of the ghost stories were really near where I grew up, I quite liked this one.… (more)

Nice collection of ghost stories all set in the Christmas season. Broken into a few different sections gifts, reunions, angels and miracles. We have a school teacher who makes has one last rehearsal with her choir students. A grandfather clock that suddenly starts working with the birth of a grandchild. An elderly women who helps a busy businessman shop for his wife. A grocer who helps a stranded wife in a blizzard. A grandmother's artwork that has a mysterious gift behind them. Most are feel good stories in keeping with the season.… (more)

This book features a narrative version of true stories, or folk legends. It starts with a story about a witch who does good for those in her community. Another witch who is not so good and puts a curse on a bar owner. The werewolf section of the book was a bit odd. One story has a skull that is brought up from a lake only to draw a werewolf to find it. Also a werewolf that has the body of a man, but the head of a wolf. Vampires has a night clerk at a convenience store who's a vampire who helps out a prostitute who went too far with an angry customer. There's also a tale of two nasty boys, and not the Janet Jackson type of nasty who get invited into a grandmother's trailer. Finally is the ghost section of the book. A ghost that visits her own grave where she's only known as her husband's wife. The final story is of a haunted house where a mother took her own life thinking that her child was dying of cholera. Good overall, with nice postscripts from the author about each story and where it originated.… (more)
