A fabulous collection of essays (or maybe journalistic pieces) devoted to the delights of food. Durack is obviously a man besotted with the tastes and textures of his workplace. Each one (with possibly a few exceptions) is well crafted and at a length that can be read while your toaster is doing its stuff. Durack is no snobby critic; he is a man you can imagine indulging in the carnal delights of beans on toast though this is not to say that he doesn't appreciate the finer things.
