Why is it that spaghetti makes you want to fuck, while noodles make you want dessert?

Maybe the ingredients, maybe the way one eats these dishes, maybe...

All I know is that if you want to get laid after dinner, I wouldn't cook from this book. But if you want your guest to lick his lips and ask what dessert is, this is the one.

A fabulous collection of essays (or maybe journalistic pieces) devoted to the delights of food. Durack is obviously a man besotted with the tastes and textures of his workplace. Each one (with possibly a few exceptions) is well crafted and at a length that can be read while your toaster is doing its stuff. Durack is no snobby critic; he is a man you can imagine indulging in the carnal delights of beans on toast though this is not to say that he doesn't appreciate the finer things. This deserves a read if you eat for more than just fuelling your body.… (more)
