This is an excellent guide to the whales and other marine mammals of BC's coast. Like most of the Lone Pine nature guides that I have read, this book is well-written, well-illustrated, and far more than just a field guide. The species accounts contain much information on the animals' life history as well as their identification, and the lengthy introduction touches on whale biology, intelligence, mythology, and other interesting information. Ian Sheldon's beautiful illustrations are also show more excellent. I highly recommend this book to anyone with any interest in the whales and other marine mammals of this region. show less
This is a helpful little field guide and it fits right in your pocket when you go camping. I found out that it was racoons crawling on my car and not possums, as I had suspected. It's not just for people in Missouri and Arkansas, because many of these animals live in various surrounding states as well.
