A very good comprehensive record of both the maps that supported the Lewis & Clark expedition, and those that Lewis & Clark generated. The writing is fairly dry, but factual. many of the maps require magnification to read clearly. Also, two maps are produced on large sheets and placed in pockets, but the large (and famous) map created by Clark from the expedition data is not provided in a large, reasonably readable size.

Remarkable synthesis of the origins of the maps and sources compiled to assist Lewis & Clark's exploration. Makes the material very accessible and digestible via interwoven explanation and visuals. The best single work encountered in presenting the material, and worth every minute spent enjoying it.
