The Appalachian Trail Reader (Official Guides to… by David Emblidge

This a great, readable collection of essays about the 2140-mile footpath from Georgia to Maine. Historians, naturalists, famous writers and amateurs all contribute to this collection. The importance of the trail and the joy of a journey really come alive in this book. This is one of my favorite books of its genre.
