In this version of Little Red Riding Hood, readers can read in either English or Spanish. It is the classic story of little red riding hood going to her grandmother’s house to deliver a basket of baked goods. Her mother tells her specifically to go straight to grandmother’s house and to not dally along. During her walk into the woods, she meets the wolf, who devises a plan of his own. The wolf goes to Red’s grandmother’s house and eats her. When Red arrives, he eats her too. A nearby hunter goes to Grandmother’s house and kills the wolf while he is asleep, saving Red and her grandmother. After, Red went straight home making sure to not dally again. Colorful illustrations catch the reader’s eye and helps follow along with the story. Being a children’s book, the story is a bit violent, especially the part where the hunter cuts open the wolf and stuffs him with rocks. The wolf is not dead and when he rises and then falls, he is pronounced dead a second time. This story leaves the message of doing what you are told to do no matter what.… (more)

Little Red Riding Hood/Caperucita Roja is the classic tale of the little girl, in the red hood, who travels through the forest to deliver a basket to her grandmother. The text on each page is written in English and Spanish. The book would be best used in a Spanish classroom. Children who speak English as a first language can practice their Spanish and children who speak Spanish as a first language can practice their English.

In this bilingual folklore students can be read Little Red Riding Hood in either English or Spanish. The illustrator uses beautiful colors to depict the pictures. Young readers' attention will easily be captured. The authors do a good job of giving details to ensure that the intended audience will not lose attention of the story. This is a good book to have because this story is very popular. To be able to have it in English and Spanish is beneficial because the Spanish language is becoming very prominent in the United States.… (more)
