A dark film in more ways than one. It never ceases to amaze me how US businesses seem to get away with this kind of thing. It happens in the UK too of course but we don't seem to get the same scale of it.
There's no bells and whistles in this film - just the continuous grey plugging along of one man trying to get justice and paying for it with his health and family. It's both horrifying and sense of "same old, same old".

It didn't seem to be about anything. But Cate Blanchett delivered a wierd, fun performance and the cinematography was luscious, as is usual with Todd Haynes. The brief Beatles bit was hilarious. There was nothing in this movie that increased my interest in Bob Dylan one tiny bit.

Until this movie, I had no idea how hot Cate Blanchett was and I'ld never seen Rooney Mara in anything. But they are both gratifyingly hot. The movie is extremely well shot and very moody. In the end it's a slight movie in which almost nothing of consequence really happens, but it is very moving.
