Back in the days before the internet, there were program guides. This is one of them. Basically, an episode list for the first six seasons of Red Dwarf, including episode descriptions and behind-the-scenes info.

Doctor Who: The Completely Useless Encyclopedia… by Chris Howarth

This book is two men listing everything they can think of relating to Doctor Who in alphabetical order, and it is hilarious. Featuring entries on items as diverse as "cunning disguises of the Master" and "wooden acting", it's the guide "packed with information so trivial we guarantee it will have no relevance to your life (if you have one)." There's apparently both a sequel and a Star Trek version; I must seek them out. (originally written January 2008)

Cunning: The Blackadder Programme Guide by Chris Howarth

Elsewhere I described 'Father Ted' as possibly the funniest TV series ever made - which means I can't really use the same description for 'Blackadder'...
On reflection I'd say that 'Father Ted' has the broader range of humour - visual, behavioural, surreal - but that no-one has ever written funnier dialogue than Elton and Curtis did for Rowan Atkinson's various Edmunds. ("For you, Baldrick, the Renaissance was something that happened to other people, wasn't it?")
This book is only an (unofficial) episode guide rather than the full scripts, but it does contain favourite quotations for every episode, along with plot summaries, cast details and so on. Well worth having as a companion to the scripts and complete DVD set...… (more)
