This was a very weird "crossover" event, in that, well, it doesn't crossover AT ALL. It's just 3 completely unconnected Apocalypse-adjacent stories. That said, I read them all together and I'm lazy, so I'm writing one review for the whole thing (Extraordinary, All-New, & Uncanny X-Men Volumes 2) and then extra bits for each volume individually.

Despite not being interconnected at all, the stories in the Apocalypse Wars were fun and interesting. As one story? Well, it's not one story, it's 3. But they are definitely all setting up the next rise of Apocalypse and that's cool. I'm intrigued to see where it goes.

Now for some specifics, Extraordinary gave me a good old fashioned X-Men Time Travel Special(TM) with some fun Magik B-plot setup and powerups for some of my favourite younger X-characters. I remember really hating Ramos' art when he started, probably 5-10 years before this run. His style was very distinct, but rough in a way that made everyone look very "same-y" in a way I didn't like. But he's grown into his style in great ways and I'm really enjoying his work here and looking forward to seeing more of it.

Really good and poignant story, let down a bit by the art. Ibañez draws great action but bloody hell, his faces are R O U G H. There were too many points where Illyana's face just looked so ridiculous when it was supposed to be very emotional. But that's something he can get better at with time? Hopefully?

Summer 2021 (July);

I totally spaced and meant to send these through in July. This was more of my Time!Displaced Baby Jean Read while I was waiting between my computer keyboard being out and the ownership of my new computer that I could actually type on. This collection of 4 was okay, but the Time!Displaced X-Men were more side pieces in my opinion in these than really the focus of them.
