A shipwrecked man finds himself on an island of genetic experiments.

2.5/4 (Okay)

There's a lot that's striking and memorable. But it's painfully unaware of how dumb the concept is.

Beyond weird. Incredibly atmospheric film is not so much entertaining as it is mesmerizing. There's a unique set of influences and talents combined here that has proven impossible to reproduce in subsequent attempts to film H.G. Wells' novel.
