About the Author
Tina Makereti is a New Zealand author. She has a PhD in Creative Writing from Victoria University, and teaches creative writing and English at Massey and Victoria Universities. In 2009 she received two awards, the Royal Society of New Zealand Manhire Prize for Creative Science Writing (non-fiction) show more and the Pikihuia Award for Best Short Story Written in English. Her other work includes Once Upon a Time in Aotearoa. This short story collection won the Nga Kupu Ora Maori Book Awards Fiction Prize in 2011. Her first novel was Where the Rekohu Bone Sings. It won the 2014 Nga Kupu Ora Maori Book Awards Fiction Prize. In 2016 she was one of five regional winners of the Commonwealth Short Story Prize for her short story 'Black Milk'.
