R. L. Mosz

The main character evolves from a driven individual into someone who can truly love another person and love life but along the way he has to divulge that he was abused by a family friend and then take the steps to heal from that. The love interest is healing physically from a trauma induced stroke. Her beloved doctor dies and retriggers some of the trauma that brought about the stroke.
