Mysteries compound in the second of the series.

I love that the plot of this book focuses on a relatively small group of characters. Mimicking the reduction of the Earth's population due to the meltdown of the Arctic ice sheet, the author richly develops each character's motivations and flaws.

I've whizzed through the first two books, be warned, they are highly addictive!

The Drowned is a unique twist on the Apocalyptic scenario. The great global flood meets nanotechnology. The author's are skilled in character development, leading you to become highly invested in the outcome of each plotline.

What I liked best about this book was the constant suspense. As the characters struggle to comprehend just how dramatically their world has changed, and how to survive, every detail and situation is heightened in anticipation.

I could not put this book down and was delighted to find the next in the series readily available on Kindle Unlimited.

This book was provided to me by the author's ARC team in exchange for an honest review.

Elijah Wade is an ex Special Forces turned Los Angeles police detective. He's hunting the worst kind of predator, the serial killer who kidnaps and tortures young women.

One crazy day in Glendale, California, while he's narrowing in on his suspect, the sky is inexplicably filled with a rainbow aurora that holds people in thrall staring at it.

As Wade is trying work, he notices people staggering in the street, collapsing and showing fiery, red blisters. He, and his colleagues, quickly try to herd people inside, to no avail.

Meanwhile, in Hawaii, at the observatory on Mauna Kea, the international scientific team experiences the same thing. Only one scientist manages to keep her head enough to take measurements.

All across America, death is falling from the sky, planes are dropping, nothing electronic will work and people are dying of radiation sickness. But no one knows why.

Kev Partner writes a compelling story that examines where humanity begins and ends. I was so sad to find out that the next installment in this series isn't out yet!

I was given an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
