Jennifer Ziegler with Revenge of the Flower GirlsVarian Johnson with The Great Greene HeistGreg Leitich Smith with Little Green Men at the Mercury Inn It's absolute Middle Grade Mayhem on our second floor this afternoon! Not one, not two, but THREE awesome local authors are here today with their brand new middle grade novels. Jennifer Ziegler is here with Revenge of the Flower Girls, in which three triplets have to stop their older sister's wedding. Varian Johnson is here with The Great Greene Heist, the story of Jackson Greene, former middle school con artist, as he crafts a scheme to stop the wrong student from winning the election for school president. Greg Leitich Smith is here with Little Green Men at the Mercury Inn, a lighthearted adventure story about an alien encounter at an aging Cocoa Beach motel. All about Revenge of the Flower Girls In this middle-grade Bridesmaids, hilarity ensues as triplets have to stop a wedding! One bride. Two boys. Three flower girls who won't forever hold their peace. What could go wrong with this wedding? Everything! The Brewster triplets, Dawn, Darby, and Delaney, would usually spend their summer eating ice cream, playing with their dog, and reading about the US Presidents. But this year they're stuck planning their big sister Lily's wedding. Lily used to date Alex, who was fun and nice and played trivia games with the triplets, and no one's quite sure why they broke up. Burton, Lily's groom-to-be, is not nice or fun, and he looks like an armadillo. The triplets can't stand to see Lily marry someone who's completely wrong for her, so it's up to them to stop the wedding. Jennifer Ziegler is a native Texan and a lover of family, history, barbecue, and loyal dogs. Although she only has one sister, she does know what it is like to have four kids living in the same house. She is the author of several books for young people, including Sass & Serendipity, and How Not to Be Popular. Jennifer lives in Austin, Texas with her husband, author Chris Barton, and their four children. All about The Great Greene Heist Jackson Greene has reformed. No, really he has. He was once the best con artist at Maplewood Middle School, and everyone still talks about his Blitz at the Fitz.... But after Principal Kelsey caught him in his office, Jackson swore off scheming for good. Then Keith Sinclair -- loser of the Blitz -- announces he's running for school president, against Jackson's former almost-girlfriend Gaby de la Cruz. Jackson assembles a crack team: Hashemi Larijani, tech genius. Victor Cho, bankroll. Megan Feldman, science goddess and cheerleader. Charlie de la Cruz, reporter. Together they devise a plan that will take down Keith, win Gaby's respect, and make sure the election is done right. If they can pull it off, it will be remembered as Maplewood's greatest scheme ever. Varian Johnson couldn't decide while growing up whether he wanted to be an engineer or a writer, so he decided to do both. His first novel A Red Polka Dot In A World Full of Plaid made the Essence Magazine bestseller list in March 2006. He lives in Austin, Texas, with his wife and two cocker spaniels. All about Little Green Men at the Mercury Inn Beach culture and UFOs collide in this lighthearted adventure story about an alien encounter at an aging Cocoa Beach motel. Twelve-year-old Aidan lives and works at his parents' motel on the Space Coast in Florida, so he's seen a lot of weird stuff. Even his best friend, Louis, is a little bit crazy--he's obsessed with UFOs and swears he saw one two years ago. But things at the Mercury Inn are about to get a whole lot weirder. When an actual unidentified flying object suddenly appears in the sky over the motel, Aidan begins to realize that some of the residents of the Mercury Inn may be much more unusual than he thought. And Louis might not be so crazy after all. Filled with quirky characters and atmosphere, this beachy alien caper, like the aging motel where it takes place, is anything but ordinary. Greg Leitich Smith grew up in Chicago and graduated from a science magnet high school. He went on to complete degrees in electrical engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and the University of Texas at Austin, and a University of Michigan degree in law. He lives in Austin, Texas, with his wife, Author Cynthia Leitich Smith, and four cats. He is the author of Ninjas, Prianahs, and Galileo and its companion book, Tofu and T.Rex.
