In the Catholic press there have recently been a number of articles implying a conservative backlash against the 'liberal' lecturers in English Catholic Seminaries. Roderick Strange was Rector of the English College in Rome, yet far from being partisan in either a conservative of liberal way he presents the Catholic faith to Catholics and non-catholics alike in a clear and readable manner drawing upon history and his own experience, without making the book a personal testimony of faith. This is a thoroughly human and humane book which manages to explain with apparent ease some of the more difficult doctrines of the Church.
