VisiCalc is credited with a significant change in perception about the earliest microcomputers. Before VisiCalc, microcomputers were treated as toys by the mainstream media. After VisiCalc, microcomputers were perceived as sophisticated business machines.

Trost helped secure the place of microcomputers in the business arena by providing 50 business applications for VisiCalc that would run on Apple II, TRS-80, and IBM personal computers with only 48KB to 64KB of memory and 5.25" floppy drives.

In this 1982 book you will find VisiCalc programs for Record Keeping, Budgeting, Sales, Manufacturing, Real Estate, and Income Taxes.

In the area of Record Keeping, for example, you will find such applications as Sales Register, Check Register, Expense Register, Invoice, and Income Statement.

In the area of finance, Trost wrote applications such as Comparative Income Statement, Comparative Balance Sheet, Key Ratios, Depreciation, and more.

Even after the passing of thirty years since these VisiCalc applications were written, VisiCalc can still be run on modern IBM PCs and these applications still work.
