Description
Muhammad Sharif (d. 1605) was the oldest son of Ghiyas Beg and Asmat Begum and the oldest brother of Mihr un-Nasi [later Nur Jahan]. He accompanied his parents on their flight from Iran to the Mughal empire. He was named after his grandfather, an accomplished poet. He became involved in Prince Khusraw's attempt to overthrow his father, Emperor Jahangir. When the conspiracy collapsed, Muhammad Sharif was executed. His father was placed on probation, but in the end, Jahangir did not blame the rest of the family, and two of Ghiyas Beg's and Asmat Begum's granddaughters would marry sons of Jahangir.
