| Description | William Allen (1532 - 1592) was an English Roman Catholic priest who became head of the English Catholic seminary at Douai and Rheims. He was eventually granted the title of Librarian of the Vatican. He helped plan the Spanish Armada, and would have been made Archbishop of Canterbury had it succeeded. |
