Explanations
themulhern: In August 2025, Scott Wiener, California Representative to Congress, claimed that the book had been "banned" by Florida. This was deeply stupid and also false. It is actually the case that the Florida Department of Education recommends the book for the 8th grade: https://www.fldoe.org/core/fileparse.php/7539/urlt/pgg-8-standards.pdf . A different book, "Anne's Frank's Diary: The Graphic Adaptation" was, however, removed from one middle school library because of what was considered to be overt sexual images. The book is by Ari Folman, who is also a movie director, whose movies are rather good. So it is probably a good book, but might be considered a bit strong for a middle school library
