The Bureau of American Ethnology (BAE, a division of the Smithsonian Institution) issued 48 annual reports, accompanied by ethnological papers, between 1880 and 1933. The report year often does not match the year of publication. Some annual reports contain more than one work. Most of the works are about American Indian cultures. The first 15 reports were issued by the Bureau of Ethnology; the remainder, by the renamed Bureau of American Ethnology. The entire series is cataloged under the latter name. Many of these works have been reprinted, either by the Smithsonian or by private presses. (English, Unclassified)
