About meI'm the author of four children's picture books, two collections of short stories and a poetry collection. I studied writing in Chicago, where I grew up, and through workshops at Bread Loaf and the Community of Writers. Learn more at my website or by exploring the books I most love. Currently working on two novels that absorb much of my free time when I'm not engaged with City Book Review.

About my libraryOur home is organized by our books--fiction and memoir against one wall (alphabetically, of course). Science and science fiction have their own corners. History unfolds chronologically with special shelves in my office for books that relate to the time period of the novel I am currently writing (1910-1920). A back hallway contains much miscellanea while glass front shelves hold reference and my much-loved collection of vintage children's books. Finally, a bookcase devoted to poetry books. Not to mention the vertical stacks by the bedside...
