About My Library

Having been a member of Library Thing since 2005 I have finally got around to begin the huge task of cataloguing the books and alike held in my study, merging my various and numerous wish lists and reading lists.

There are only a few collections listed -

My Library - physical and e-books that I own.

European-Ancestors - these are books listed in the Pharos Researching Ancestors from Continental Europe course (750).

Articles & Papers - these are articles or published papers that are kept for research or reference purposes.

Book Reviews - books that I have been asked to review by either the author or publisher.

Read but not owned - these reflect books that I have borrowed from friends or the library, or books that I once owned but have now passed along for others to enjoy.

Wish List - Books that I plan to read, at some point!

Currently Reading - Books that I am in the middle of reading - usually just one at a time, but on odd occasions I read several books.

To Read - This is the pile of books that I have physically sorted into a reasonable manageable pile. It only includes physical books at the moment. Books which I have not read, but will keep are not listed here.

SPG - This collection is mainly my husband's angling collection. That said, there are a few books which fall into this tag that I own, mainly e-books, and are fictional mysteries.

Mum - This is the collection of books that belonged to my late Mum. Majority still to be catalogued.

Current Library Books - This collection is to help me keep track! - Once a book is read and reviewed, the book is moved from this collection to the Read but unowned collection and the book returned to the library.

Audio & Visual - This is where we identify our DVD, Blue Ray & Videos. (We still have a video player!). In this collection we include tapes & MP3 too. Each one identified by the appropriate tag.

Over the years I have belonged to several book groups, a mixture of virtual such as Progressive Book Group & Bookies-Too and even a real one! Books read for the various groups are identified by the tag of Book Group. The Society of Genealogists (SOG) has a Book Group identified by the tag SOG Book Group.
