- My tastes run mainly to fiction that combines great storytelling, humor and social commentary. Favorite authors include: Jane Austen, Zadie Smith, Charles Dickens, and Anthony Trollope. My literary first loves were Jane Eyre, David Copperfield, Nancy Drew, and anything by Agatha Christie.

- Jamaican. Tar Heel. Bookworm. All-purpose pop culture fan & brand new PhD (May 2010). I study media, politics & public opinion, and their intersection with race, gender & sexuality. Rather than making a complete escape, I enjoy the way that fiction presents another view of human nature and all of the above.
