- About My Library
- I like books - my permanent library is more for reference than reading cover to cover. Given a choice I prefer books with spines, hard backs, and leaves that flutter in a breeze. I do however have some electronic books that will disappear just as soon as I do. Possibly sooner if the publisher or provider decides the time has come to close up shop.
Fiction however, is a different story (no pun intended). When I read fiction it's to relax and get lost in another world. I like a variety of topics. There is one common thread through all the topics and that is that I get taken away into another world that has nothing to do with reality. It's escapism without a doubt and it feels good. Some are very scary places, some are pleasures that cannot be described, some are everyday situations with an unexpected twist that puts the world in a spiral sometimes down to depths unknown and sometimes skyward to other worlds. - About Me
- I'm into cycling, tent camping, hiking, photography, tinkering with Linux, and fiber arts.
I like to get a long podcast or recorded book and listen while riding and/or camping. The special effects generated by a book or story are so much better than any movie or television show could ever hope to achieve.
The novels that I read or listen to I get from the library or used book stores once I'm done with them I return them, donate them, leave them in a Little Library, or trade them. I seldom keep them. There are a few exceptions, but not many.
If all books were part of a "pie," it would be all encompassing. Selecting only a sliver of the pie gives you only a sliver of life. You may not agree with every thing you read, but if you never read anything other than what you agree with then the rut you dig for yourself will become your grave. - Memberships
