I'm a retired professional writer who loves to read. I post reviews on my personal blog (www.tobyasmith.com with 6000+ views per month), as well as assorted book-related websites (sometimes under the pseudonym HalKid2 or HalKidJr).

Writing reviews is my way of sharing my love of books. I try to write experiential reviews - about my own feelings and reactions while reading each book. I avoid plot summaries and never include spoilers.

I particularly enjoy historical fiction about Britain, France, Russia, and the two World Wars. Also I'm interested in novels about women and about racism.
