About My Library

When I was a teenager I bought a copy of RE/Search Publication's Industrial Culture Handbook, a book of interviews with first wave industrial musicians. What inspired me most was the book lists at the end of each chapter. I decided I wanted to build my own library with the idea that you can read outside of what is considered appropriate or acceptable by authorities who think they know better than you. My taste in books include a balance of fiction and non-fiction with emphases on social sciences, cultural studies, counter cultures, history, travel, visual art, music, film, and performing arts especially when it relates to countries I have traveled or lived in. My tastes tend towards the dark and wild side incorporating elements of transgression, outsider and outlaw culture, eccentricity, the macabre, and marginality. Life is lived more intensely in the peripheries of human society. The most exciting people are those at odds with the mainstream. Musically, I have deep roots in punk rock and underground/experimental/avant-garde music and the psychedelia my parents nurtured me on when I was a child.
