Anne Hillerman continues to do a good job building on her father's characters. I enjoy watching them develop.
I got lost in the neuroscience but understand the genes versus the environment debate and am all the more puzzled about free will.
This was a fun murder mystery. Enough hints to give you an idea of what might happen and enough twists to keep you surprised!
Not as powerful as Guns, Germs, and Steel but still very thought provoking
Good overview of the relations between US and Cuba. I wish that there was more about the recent years. Nicely highlights how badly we treat others!
It took me a while to get around to reading this book and found it delightful.
Tough story. I made it about halfway through. Things just seemed to be getting worse and worse.
I liked to see how the series ended, but his was certainly quite weird.
A good page turner

I enjoyed imaging life on the South Pole. This made for a fun, quick read! I would certainly recommend it.
Surprisingly fun story

I loved the beginning, almost gave up due to many twists in the middle and was quite glad I kept going to the end.
Very well written and satisfying. I highly recommend this book!
A brutally honest story

Whitney tells the story of raising her autistic child as if she was just living it—the fear and heartbreak of learning what her son faced, the trials of trying to help him to overcome it, and the joy and acceptance once she realized that he would not.

It is a hard story. If you are starting down the journey of raising an autistic child, read the last few chapters first. The story ends well and Whitney has created a wonderful group that creates a safe space for all of us with special kids.
Another fun read in J’s world

I read J’s first book: Disastrous Passion while still working on the Haiti earthquake response and have read each as they have come out. He nicely captures the quirky reality of humanitarian work with just enough exaggeration to keep them fun.

This is a nice standalone book—no need to read the earlier ones. Plus J’s writing has become smoother.
Another fun story

I enjoy the Brother Carwell series and this was certainly a good one—a murder mystery with nice twists! I do think that these are best read on order.
Great fun

I stayed up way too late because I could not put it down! I look forward to her next book.
This book is not a commentary on the Afghanistan War. The author deliberately focuses on the soldiers point of view. As he wrote, the soldiers care about protecting each other as the nest route to their own survival. They don’t care about the overall war. Junger gives a beautiful, very personal view of the soldiers’ lives. Highly recommended.
I couldn't put it down

Great, gripping story. I couldn't stop reading once I started. Now I guess I should delete my Facebook account! Great story
A great overview of a different way of doing business. This isn't just about Google. It is about how to rethink your own business model. If you don't like Google, skip the book.
