This has been one of my favorite reads lately, especially in the realm of parenting. This book is formatted as a conversation/letter to the author's child, but intended to be able to be passed from parent to kid alike. It sets the expectations around a very common questions parents are asked - Can I have a phone yet? I was thrilled to see the author navigate this process beautifully, pulling from wisdom and tradition, not just throwing the past away, while also acknowledging the world we all currently living in. This approach breaks down the barriers that so many parents and children deal with of: "that was then... this is now..." The author presents a list of tasks or experiences that their child needs to complete before being given a phone but does so in a way that intertwines wisdom, humor, and advice in clear communication. It's all about the journey between now and getting a phone, but it is also about so much more than that. A quick and easy read, always entertaining and very meaningful, it's a book I'll be recommending for a very long time.
