I didn't enjoy this stainless steel rat adventure nearly as much as the first. The scenes often seem disjointed without sufficiently building on what came before, and there are a few giant leaps in which problems are suddenly solved without sufficient explanation. it might make a better action movie than a book.

Hale presents Columbus as an imperfect hero explorer doing the work of God. This is the story of Columbus that I learned in school -- one that presents Columbus' own words written to extol himself to his financiers as the truth in spite of raising some concerns about the accuracy of his reporting.

Most of the photos provoke thinking about how I might have made a better photograph rather than enjoyment of the images or thinking about the subject matter.

In case you ever wondered, this book demonstrates that a single line BASIC program for a Commodore 64 can provoke an entire book about computers, culture, and context.

Ten academics review a single line of code and take it on tangents about programming, art, culture, history, psychology, math, design, and more. Reading this book took me on a delightful walk down memory lane that has provoked further reading.

Very few of these thousands of jokes are funny.
