The story started strong, from the first book but kind of lost its way in the middle to a very disappointing end fight that just felt squeezed into the sex scenes.
The story starts of at a good pace, smugglers, cut throats but somewhere in the middle it loses it way. Forgets to be a smuggling/privacy story and gets tangled into the Jacobean rebellion and just loses the plot all together.
Interesting read for foodies and history fans alike. Not something you will read cover to cover but can dip in and out of.
The book starts off well, with a good idea to celebrate British food, unfortunately the authors way of dragging the chapter out with useless information, means the book is a slog and a half. By the middle I just skipped through reading snippet s, skipping all the same waffle included in all the chapters.

Thank God for libraries is all I can say. They saved me wasting £30 on this book.
For a foraging book to use black and white images is ridiculous, it also very wordy and just not interesting.

A lovely well written book on not only the food, but the people, area and culture of the Palestinian people.
I would encourage anyone interested in food to read this book.
The worst case scenario cookery club is one of those nice cosy easy reads. A little bit predictable in places but a well-paced tale with a nice ending.

I had such high hopes for this book, as a fan of Greek myths and Stephen Fry, but I found this book a real struggle.
Stephen's way of trying to add humour and lightheartedness to the myths just comes across as a a little flat, like listening to a boring history teacher.
I loved this story, it was a wonderfully written fairy tale where the story just flow. If you like fables you will enjoy this book.
I really enjoyed this version of the Greek tale. It took me a couple if chapters to get used to the jumps between Jocasta's story and Ismene story. But I would recommend it to anyone interested in Greek myths and stories

My first novel by Aravind Adiga and even though its a stark look at Indian culture and life, I did thoroughly enjoy the book.
It follows the story of Balram the "White Tiger" a young man born to a poor family in a small village and his decision to leave the fate born to him.
This was the first John Lewis-Stempel book i have read having picked it up on impulse from my library. I loved the idea of what he wanted to achieve with returning to a more natural way of growing wheat and the book had wonderful descriptions of the field and life or lack of around it, but I did find he went of subject a bit too much, especially with the peotry segments.
If you are lover of nature and poetry then i would recommend given this book a whirl
A lovely collection of recipe's, with beautiful images throughout. Recommend to anyone interested in cooking and world cuisine.
This was the first book of Andrew Taylor I have read a very much enjoyed it. I thought the characters were well developed and the plot moved along at a nice pace.
A wonderfully well researched and written book. I enjoyed reading the book as much as I enjoyed eating the apple Charlotte (1st receipe I tried).
If you enjoy food and history you love this book
I started of really enjoying this book, it been a while since i have read a book by Terry Goodkind, and forgot how good he was at creating a world. By three quarters of the way through i started to want the book over, the 2nd part of the scar quest was just a bit OTT for me and i am not sure i will read the next in the series.
I had not read anything by Sarah Vaughan before and not is this something i would normally pick up having just read the burb on the back. But pick it up i did and i am glad i did.
The burb doesn't do this book justice; It tells the stories of the women mainly from a Cornish farming family and their personal struggles alongside the ever changing farming life. With the two main stories spamming 70 years i found the book a real delight to read, a good mix of predictability, character development and heart breaking and warming story line i found myself finishing this in the wee hours.
One of the best gardening books I have read in quite a while. The author had and easy going way of writing that gives the reader ideas and enthusiasm to get gardening.
Ok I finished the book, but with every chapter I disliked Kismet more and more. How anyone would want such a stupid, insipid boring main character for thier novel is beyond me, and don't even get me started on why ever make was 'good looking'.
Nothing new, different in this novel, just badly written clichés.

An easy to read book, more about the wiccan religion and ceremonies, than actual gardening.
A nice easy read, with a good range of characters to keep you from being to bored with the predictability of the story, but overall I enjoyed the book.

Well I expected a fairy tale, but got a very different tale from this book. The story is about a young girl, who lives next door to the Grimm family. The story is set during the Napoleon wars and is at time shows the very dark side of human nature. Once I got into the story, I found myself wanting to find out what happens to the characters.

I have loved the film for years now and wasn't disappointed by the book. Like a good story's it was richer in detail and more in depth character development than film. Recommend if you love Westerns.

This is the final book in the wardstone series, like the rest of the books, it's a good vs evil book with a twist. The final battle is here but who actually wins.
Obviously if you have read the other 12 you enjoy this book
A new and updated version from the creator of square foot gardening. Although I don't agree with the authors soil mix (too much peat), it is a good book for everyone interested in gardening not just sfg, and is relevant for us UK gardeners
Let down by the fourth book, nothing original in the story so it drags a bit

In this book, you get more of the back story of Aya and Zac, and the focus is more on Gabby and her power. Nice fast read, that you just enjoy
After the first 3 chapters i was unsure of this book, but once half way i really enjoyed it and have moved on the 2nd in the series already.

The book has all the usual supernatural elements, vampires, werewolves, witches but adds in a new element of "founders" i.e. the first vampire, witch. If you get into the story, then the unusual ending of the first book will make you reach for the 2nd straight away

If you are a fan of the spooks books, this is a must read about some of the more prominent witches from the stories.
If you have not read any of the spooks books, it won't mean much to you.
