My favorite book of all time. Haunting, tragic, and never pulls a punch. The uber rich destroy without regard, and the rest of us are left to pick up the pieces. Cannot believe this book is more relevant in 2025 than when it initially released.

It was every bit as intriguing and excellent as I was led to believe. While the show pushed me to finally read it, The Three-Body Problem is better because it's set entirely in China. That helps add to the approaches of various characters and reminds us about the country's complex history. Liu's ability to craft massive moments in his story is astounding to this day.

A fun little romp to kick off the new year in books. It's very straightforward, very western, and very fun. A dash of The Defiant Ones through the dialogue that Leonard loves to write. Worth your time if you're looking to plow through a short book.

Obviously spooky and upsetting, The Shining still sends goosebumps up my arms because of its clear ties to King's struggles with alcoholism and drug abuse. Even as someone who did not use, I have experienced dozens in my family who have. The way that he writes Torrence and the ways that he attacks his family are all too familiar.
