I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I like period books and I like characters. This book excelled at both. I learned a bit about rum-runners and enjoyed the class conflict that existed at that time. I also enjoyed how the softening of the class lines was woven into the book. I was sorry when it was over.

I enjoyed this book so much I was sorry it ended. I like characters and these characters were drawn so well I wanted to travel to Guernsey to talk with them. It's a book that steals your heart.

I enjoy Mike's books because he creates interesting characters. He brings in history and shows how the times the characters inhabit influence them. The auto racing is easy to understand and make the sport more accessible to those who are less familiar with it.
