This mystery novel set in London England in 1862 really impressed me. The characters were easy to identify with and there were enough false leads and red herrings to keep me guessing until near the end.
This review was written for LibraryThing Early Reviewers.
What an awful follow-up to the first book. The amount of useless scenes and repetitions is staggering. How many time can you end a chapter with Bell "dying"? Or how many times can you make the reader lose his time reading about another dispute within the Tempest? I was bored out of my mind. This book is badly written, and it's combined with abysmal pacing. It's like they only had material for 100 pages, but still tried to stretch it to 400.

Also, there are a gazillion characters to follow in the book, and you have to know each of their name, surname AND race because they will refer to those characters using those 3 in the text. Insane. It makes reading after taking a 2-3 days break SO frustrating. "Who is Gio? OH, right, that's Stellan last name. And that Torrick... right, that's Ty. Who is that Tholothian in this chapter? OH, that's Ty again. Geez, just use the first name all the time will you!!!!!!

Horrible writing. You've been warned.
I didn't like the first arc art, not at all, so I ended up not caring about that story because of that. Second arc was nice, and the art was more in line.
Nothing really special in this one, but nothing bad either :) Iwish they would organize their "magazine" better, with stories that have some kind of connections. As it is, we get thrown across eras and factions and there is no way to really feel a connection to any of those when you close the book.
A slow start, but from the middle 'til the end, it was a joyride. Loved the development of the era, and was pleasantly surprised that a threat that seemed, oh so laughable, actually became quite serious.

This is an intro book. A small plot is closed, but a bigger one just opened. A good read!

Sadly, I am taking a full star off because DelRey/Disney seems to have no respect for readers. The physical book is printed on translucent thin paper, and the cover can barely be called that. It's more like a "ticker paper stock than the normal page" carton. Mass Paperback from other companies use better paper and ticker cover... Shame on you Del Rey and Disney.

J. Schmetzer is one of my favorite BT writers. Yet, I could barely finish this book. So many repetitions, so many useless paragraphs. It's like Catalyst gave J. a contract to write a book he didn't want to write. Also, I really, really, really dislike catalyst editorial line of simply rolling over what's left of the Republic and erase them like they are common pirates. I mean, they have been training for 15 years for the wall to go down, and as soon as it foes down, they get rolled over like amateurs. It shows that Catalyst has no intention of keeping the Republic around, probably because it wasn't their creation. Sad, and total lack of respect IMO.
Battletech. Meaning, lots of useless pages of mech fights(you read one of those, you read them all) but the book is good when it's not a fight description.
Battletech. 3151. Gray Death Legion. So, no real surprises, it's a bt novel.
I'm more a high fantasy type than low fantasy like this book is, but the story is so fun to read, I didn't mind at all in the end! Entertaining, funny, some sad moments. Loved it! Moving forward with the series. Thanks to Secret Book Santa for this gift! Great choice!
Not the best story by far, but it's still classic Doc Savage :)
Interesting background story, but bad art, and multiples artists over the TPB, which break the flow.

I don't see what the buzz is about. This collect 6 issues and I stil don't get what the whole story is about. Wasted money.
Dommage.

the abstract art style makes the whole story more confusing then it should be. I'm not going to continue this series.

histoire intéressante. Graphisme amateur.

I stopped enjoying the read after noticing how many chapters are written for no reason at all. End of the series for me. The magic of the first one wasn't back in this one.

A satisfying read. In the end, it's alot about cloning ethic, and it brought many valid questions. Nice read.
Good stories. Better than vol 23, but less than earlier stories. The 4-8 pages stories with Gyro were very funny.
Mostly 10 pages stories, not Barks forte as they feel rushed. Also, some stories weren't written by him and it shows as they portrait the characters completely opposite to what Carl Barks developed over the year(a clueless Scrooge is not from Barks!)
The usual mech stories. The one about the phantom was pretty good. The one by Stakpole was the usual name dropping(he loves to drop mech's design name, pilot name, probably to fill out word count but it would be nice if the stories would hold better)
