I've always tried to imagine the outside of the universe since my teens. Imagine the possible nothingness that is outside of our universe. But my imagination has never satisfied me! Mr g is a story about the creation but not from religious view points. It's a charming story with theories, laws of nature and philosophies that we know about this universe. Things that we can imagine about the outside based on our current knowledge. This book was my companion to imagine the universe and nothingness.

He is a square and lives in a two dimensional world, called Flatland.
In their land:
Women are straight lines.
Soldiers and the lowest classes of workmen are Triangles with two equal sides.
Middle class consists of Equilateral or Equal-Sided Triangles.
Professional men and gentlemen are Squares.
I am wondering how these creatures can recognize each other in a two dimensional world that everything seems as a straight line!!! Have they ever imagined a three dimensional world?

Boring and bad Writing Style. Don't look for thinking tools! this book is more about thought experiment.

I am introvert and I have lived in an extrovert world. I used to be quite, shy and almost invisible, always standing at the corner. I was happy with my books and doing hand work and solitude! Everyone had an advice for me. Be social, talk! That's not good. That's not normal! I always thought that something was wrong with me. It took years to understand how to live in this world and how to overcome my shyness and I'm normal as any other extroverts. I wish I could read this book when I was 16. This book is not just for introverts people. One third of the people are introvert, so you or one of your relatives is introvert. introverts have to learn how to live in this extroverts societies and extroverts need to learn how to communicate with introverts. this book has done a good job of explaining the differences and presenting many researches and theories about introvert/extrovert psychologies.

All Goldratt's books are practical. you can read the book and immediately apply what you learned. Main message of this book is how to think clearly like a true scientist. scientific thinking is not just for biology or social science or... It's for everyday thinking, for solving any problem

Philosophical, mysterious and mind blowing.

سم پسر باهوش و با شخصیت غیر متعارفی است که برای تحصیلات از انگلستان به آمریکا می آید و در یک خانواده میزبان ساکن می شود. این داستان بلند، شامل چالشها، تلاشها و اشتباهات سم هفده ساله در تگزاس دهه هشتاد است. سم سعی میکنه در محیط جدید وفق پیدا کنه، دوستان جدید پیدا کنه و از همه مهم تر به دانشگاه راه پیدا کند.
کتاب شخصیت پردازی خیلی خوبی داره و شخصیت ها کاملا واقعی هستند. وقایع بخوبی شرح داده شده اند. مشکلات سم در خانواده میزبان، محیط جدید و همچنین زندگی در دهه هشتاد. با وجود اینکه پر از اصطلاحات عامیانه و فرهنگ امریکا و انگلستان است، اما دنبال کردن خط داستان برای خوانندگان غیر انگلیسی زبان سخت نیست. همچنین پایان داستان کاملا غیر منتظره است!
این اولین ریویو فارسی ام است برای کوین نویسنده کتاب به زبان فارسی علاقه داره! از کوین سپاسگزارم برای پیشنهاد کتابش و همچنین سخاوتش که یه نسخه از آن را در اختیارم گذاشت.

Totally disappointed, waste of time.

Dear Ayn Rand,
I have read your book, and I have to admit, It was amazing, so real. Interestingly, I know the characters in person, the men of mind and ability versus looters, I have met them throughout my life. As a matter of fact, I have worked with them.

I am going to mention some quotes which are so appealing to me :

"Contradictions do not exist. Whenever you think you are facing a contradiction, check your premises. You will find that one of them is wrong"
You have no idea how many problems I have solved with your words, how many arguments I have won and how many processes I have improved. Now conflicts resolution is my first class problem solving tools since there is no conflict in nature.

"If any part of your uncertainty, is a conflict between your heart and your mind - follow your mind"
I found out that my emotions are full of filters, greed, arrogance and biases. Can I have a pure heart? I will try my best, but until then I will follow my mind. I doubt that a pure heart and a rational mind have any conflicts.

"Reason is our only source of knowledge"
I do not think reason is the only source of knowledge, but I am positive that reason is a missing piece of puzzle in our lives.

"I swear by my life and my love of it that I will never live for the sake of another man, nor ask another man to live for mine"

TRIZ is interesting, the book was dummy!

Ben Zander's TED presentation was great, so I decide to buy his book, but the book wasn't as impressive as I expected. it was slow and boring and not practical.

A great lecture about critical and creative thinking.
