Band of Brothers: E Company, 506th Regiment, 101st Airborne from Normandy to Hitler's Eagle's Nest by Stephen E. Ambrose
A disappointing read, mostly because I'd expected better prose from the author. It read more like an expanded "outline" of a book--the author's notes, perhaps--than a full-fledged work. The subject deserves better.
Fascinating subject, but a little dry in parts.
A very disagreeable main character, in my opinion. I've liked this author's other books, but this one is disappointing.
A quiet and sad book, but ultimately hopeful. Family dysfunction seems to be a theme in Ansay's novels.
Definitely not for the squeamish or (despite the title) for animal lovers.
Can't live without this one--it goes everywhere with me. I've since updated and bought the 4th and 5th editions, but all of my birding notes are still in this very worn copy. An excellent field guide, in my opinion. I supplement it with [b:The Sibley Guide to Birds|15832|The Sibley Guide to Birds|David Allen Sibley|http://photo.goodreads.com/books/1166694299s/15832.jpg|17649], which stays at home while I drag the Ntl. Geographic guide with me.
