It is rare for me to give up on a book but i could not finish this one. I had looked forward to reading it and that period of history interests me but I found it to be unbelievable and frustrating. Was it written for children? Most of the sentences were extremely short and the vocabulary used was very simple.
I struggled through several chapters but could not bear to waste any more of my time reading this simplistic work.

This review was written for LibraryThing Early Reviewers. This book started well and, as I enjoy science fiction, I thought i would enjoy reading it. However, several things spoiled that enjoyment for me and I ended up reading it purely to review it.
I was irritated by the typos and poor grammer but perhaps I would not have noticed these so much if the story had been more gripping. The number of characters was bewildering and most were referred to by both first name and surname which made double the number of names to try to remember. I found the story inconsistent, especially in the behaviour of the imagos, so it was difficult to believe in .
The original premise was good and the story could have been both gripping and thoughtful, but it was neither and ended up being annoying and frustrating with no central characters that I cared about. Altogether, I found this a disappointing read.

This review was written for LibraryThing Early Reviewers.I was a little disappointed in this book as I found it far too 'pretty' and repetitive. The pictures were beautiful but far too similar and the facts and quotes were tantalisingly brief. I would have preferred far more writing with smaller pictures so that I could have found out more about baby customs throughout the world.
The lists of the most popular boy's and girl's names were not in my copy but there were two blank pages so perhaps they should have appeared there. I am sure this book will appeal to lots of other people, especially new mothers, but it was not for me.

This review was written for LibraryThing Early Reviewers. This is definitely a book for very young readers as the story is simple, the sentences are short and the print is huge. It is easily read at a sitting and, although advertised as a family book as well as YA, I found it far too sentimental for my tastes. Perhaps it would appeal more to the American audience it is aimed at, especially as it is themed around Thanksgiving, which is a totally American concept.
The hero, Heath, is a young man of indeterminate age but I would guess at around 12 or early teens. Despite meeting some extremely colourful characters in his new home I found it difficult to believe that any boy would be so content in the company of just adults and felt that the story would have felt more real if there had been another boy or two his own age near the Inn.
