I've noticed that some people are managing to post messages that are not associated with a group. These messages cannot be replied to, as one must "join this group to post"!
A couple of examples: http://www.librarything.com/talktopic.php?topic=1266
http://www.librarything.com/talktopic.php?topic=1271

I feel vicariously frustrated for these posters, who are obviously hoping for responses but can't get any.
I don't know how this is happening, but it's a bug that should be fixed.

How odd. The second and third should presumably have been automatically put in Book Talk, as they seem to have come directly from the works (judging by the touchstones), but how the first got there (or not-there, as the case may be) is not as obvious.

They were all posted by users not in any groups.
That shouldn't make a difference. While some groups require that you be a member to post, that's not the case for most. Certainly it's not the case for Book Talk.
And if you click on "Post New Topic", Book Talk is the default group and there is a list of groups that you can choose from. So I'm not sure how you can post without a group.

I just started a thread like this myself: topic=1616. I should edit the message, as it's not finished.
My guess is that it happens when the servers are out of sync, so I'll try again tomorrow.
The thread was started by "post a new topic" on the Recommend Site Improvements group page (and I do see "join this group to post" and an error message * when I try to edit).

I don't think it's got to do with this, as I could easily _start_ the thread, it just didn't get attached to the group I started it from.

Just did it again, sorry (LT team: feel free to remove it!): topic=1703. This time I think it was my own impatience messing with it (don't remember exactly, but sth. with clicking 'back' before it had loaded or clicking on the group name and back or stopping it from loading and then click 'refresh').

and another one, started by "post a new topic" on the Recommended... group:
topic=1965 - this time without any particular oddidity while entering it.
I posted it again, so LT team is welcome to delete 1965.

On All topics, the 'lost' threads can be identified by not having a : (and not having a group name in front of the :).
Example: Can anyone solve this problem? (last line on page 1 at the moment).
