There seem to be a lot of loose posts today, belonging to no group, and unable to reply to them.

I noticed at least three today, Maybe make site or book talk a default when none exists?

Hm. Looks as if they come from very different places (not all from a specific book page, for example).

There are some older threads * about it, but with so many on a single day it might be time to email Tim about it.

Just thought I'd bump this up there are still 2-4 (or More) of these happening every day. I would think trigger could catch these?

New examples here, too.

I would think that by taking the ID of a specific group, ie book talk, site talk or some new as yet unnamed group, to catch the misplaced posts, and make that the default value for the group column in the posts (and not null) then NO post should ever be outside a group. (or use a trigger to do the same)

Sorry from the outside it seems like such a simple fix...

readafew nailed it - I just can't find where! If you create a new user, then go directly to Talk (do not pass Go, do not join any groups) then click 'Post new topic' there is no Groups drop-down so you have to create a Loose post.

I wonder if a group for new users could be started and then, have that be a default group that users are members of until they join another group?

Tim has fixed it - new members are now automatically members of the Standing Group and the drop-down shows them.

Sorry not to post myself. I got distracted. Yeah. Should be fixed.
