Splitting this issue off from http://www.librarything.com/topic/99513#2228791
As reported by koffieyahoo, the author http://www.librarything.com/author/treinenralf is showing up on his page as Treinen, Ralf. That appears to be how he's entered on all editions of the one book he has (http://www.librarything.com/work/8593661/editions), but shouldn't the system be turning it around?
I've noticed this on other authors as well, when removing their Canonical Name. I'll add them if I find any more.

I've come across a few examples of these. As you say, it happened when I removed a canonical name. I think (but I'm not absolutely sure) that adding back and re-blanking the name sorted it out. If I come across any more examples I'll test it (obviously not on your example since you need it!)

I just tried that -- re-entering the Canonical Name and removing it again -- with Alfred H. Holt and it did work. I'll leave Treinen, Ralf's page as it is for now.

I don't think we have a bug yet--defined as something replicable, or at least known to be happening. Do we?

Well, http://www.librarything.com/author/treinenralf is consistently showing up that way. The data as shown on the editions page appears to be correct (is it really?), so it looks like a reproducible fault in the data -> display code. If there's something wrong with the data, how can we identify it so we can tell when it happens?

At some early point, that was the name we calculated. It's so easy to change it in CK—and so very very hard to constantly be checking all books by the author to keep it up to date—that I'm not going to treat this as a bug.
