I have been searching without success for the keyboard equivalent of the library ℓ on a PC. I now use cut and paste when I need for a call number but it would be a lot easier to use the code. I have a list of the diacritics

and by trial and error I have found some other alt+ codes.

Does anyone know this code?

Thanks.

Fianna

2113 then Alt+X works for me in documents, but not (e.g.) in the LT Message box.

ℓ should create it, if I'm remembering correctly (ℓ)

Edit: yes, it worked the second time. :) When you have a unicode ID, you can prepend it with "&#x" and follow up with a semicolon and it should show. You can often find the unicode id with a bit of work if you plug the copypasted character into wikipedia or the wiktionary, which is how I found this one.

Also, note, this isn't a keyboard code, but it is a way to get the character to show up without copypasting.

Very cool keristars - I'm starring this thread.

#3 - it works! (Said with wonder.) I typed that sequence and saved after I entered the Dewey. The ℓ appeared in my Dewey box.

#2 - Your method works in Word and Wordpad. I use Deweys in documents so this is also very helpful.

(Our online catalog at work changes the library ℓ to a beta (ß) which is so confusing for patrons. I need to see if either method would work there.)

Thank you both for the magic!
