When I try to look at my reviews (or anyone else's, for that matter), I get the following error message:

Some sort of error just happened. The error was logged and Tim has been alerted. If problems persist, email timspaldinglibrarything.com

In most cases, the problem can be fixed by using this link.

The reported error was:

Problem with the concurrent query manager in the LibraryThing Bureau of Garbage Collections.
We have an entire room of trained monkeys working to solve the problem..

In fact, I get it twice on the page, once on the page itself, and a second time in a grey box on the right-hand side of the page.

I'm getting my reviews from the menu on top of my profile page. Are you on a work page?

No, that's where I was accessing it from as well.

Perhaps it was a momentary glitch. I'll go try again.

I don't get an error message trying to see your reviews (on the "reviews" page, http://www.librarything.com/profile_reviews.php?view=lilithcat ) but I do get flaky results; for both yours and mine, they initially appeared blank, then flashed up briefly on a reload before disappearing again. Waiting a minute or so, with the page open in another tab, got the page to appear in a stable fashion.

Okay, I tried again, and I'm still getting the error message, both when I try to access reviews from the tab on the profile page, and from the "reviews" link on the profile itself.

(Windows XP Professional/IE7, if that makes a difference.)

Lorax, I also tried using your link, and got the same message.

On both my own profile page and lorax's link I get a short delay and then a stable page. Mozilla 5.0/Vista.

I'm at home now, using Mac OSX/Firefox3.6.10, and what happens is that I get a quick glimpse of a page that says "no reviews yet", and then the reviews come up.

Switching to Safari 4.1.2, the reviews come up with no problem.

Problem still exists.

I'm not getting the "no reviews yet" flash during my delay.

I'm not getting problems in OSX/FF3.6, or elsewhere.

I'm going to assign this to Chris. Can you take a look at it, Chris?

I've been experiencing the same mishap described in Message 1 since the weekend. Only with FF3.6.12 though, it looks fine in IE7...

ETA...Actually, strike that, it's not working in IE7 either. I saw the reviews for a brief moment, then tried to sort by title rather than date and got the error message again.

I'm going to take a look at this. I'm not seeing the problem right now but I'll check it in a few different browser configs to see if I can reproduce.

I'm getting this, and have been consistently for at least a week; not sure when it started - but only in Opera (10.63). In Firefox, I get a slight delay and then the page loads fine.

I'm on it. I found the problem but it will take a bit to fix it.

Fixed. By the way, it had nothing to do with the browser type (though that's always good info to have). It was the selection of sorting by date for the reviews that was causing the problem. Code for that was changed while I was gone. Sorry for that.

Hooray! Thank you.

Code for that was changed while I was gone

I deny it!

Figured you would. We have the advantage in that we can blame things on people who are no longer here. To the victor go the spoils! Arrrrr.

It's all Paul's fault.(1)

1. One day employee, back in 2005. He freaked me out by spending half his first day making his email signature. I freaked him out by telling him to write code.

A decent email sig takes time!

A thing of beauty is a joy forever.

Speaking of which, I can't help noticing Tim has started using a sig in some of the bug threads tonight. How may seconds did you fritter away on that, T?

Tell me about it. I mean, use periods in the telephone number, or dashes or spaces?

Always go with bullets. It's very mid-century modern.

But which bullet?

In these modern days, you can never go wrong with @signs.
