Read this a year or two ago; a young woman witnesses? the kidnapping of a six-year-old girl from a parking lot by a guy in a bunny costume. It brings back memories of her friend, who disappeared years before. The friend had been sexually abused by her father, and her brother had killed him. She hadn't talked for years, then disappeared when she was a teenager, but comes back by the end of the book.

Could you be thinking of Island of Lost Girls by Jennifer McMahon? I haven't read it, but I remember reading about it recently.
