I'm thinking of getting an e-reader, and just wanted to start a thread that wasn't punctuated by "Ooooh, what about the Nook?!" - I'm leaning towards the Kindle, but I must admit I've not heard much about the alternatives available in the UK, and wondered if any of you could offer some advice.

I went for a Kindle, and am very pleased with it

I'm on a now old-skool Sony 505. Again very pleased with it. As ever I recommend www.mobileread.com for their comparison matrix. And also visit any big waterstones to get your fingers on a few and see how you get on with different models.
Key choices:
Touchscreen or not
Epub or Mobi fileformat
5" or 6" screen size.
That will leave you with only 1 or 2 to choose between at most.
