The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo is going to be my first read in 2011.

10mellymel171328
Dec 28, 2010, 12:05 pm

jlynn7 I think I am going to start with Last Sacrifice, my list is more of a .... Suggestion to myself because I am just putting down all the books I haven't read yet. Then I probably will after I read the book write a small little thing about them here.

11honeydew69862004
Edited: Dec 28, 2010, 12:35 pm

Melissa I can already see that your going to be a bad influence on me because just looking at some of these books I'm adding them to my TBR pile. lol. Oh well it's not like the list was ever going to end anyway.

I hope that you enjoy the The Time Travelers Wife. I loved it just be prepared that the movie is a major let down.

12mellymel171328
Dec 28, 2010, 12:48 pm

I already seen the movie and thought it was good, but I have never had the chance to buy and read the book. Now that I have it I am going to be able to enjoy it :)

Lol my TBR always grows too. I constantly look at the list on my Nook.

I decieded that I would go ahead and start, I started reading my first two days ago. I read #15 Succubus On Top.

It had in my opinion been a slight dissapointment, I enjoyed the first story so much but this one was so see through and, I guess ironically since the title has succubus in it that I actually found it too sexual? I mean I never mind sex in a book but there was such a vast difference between Succubus Blues and Succubus On Top also the plot like I said before was just painfully see through. I am debating on reading the third book or not, but then again it might of just been this book. The writing is clever and I adore Georgina, I think I might have a slight crush on her. Lol

Dec 30, 2010, 11:34 pm

Look at you, all these planned reads! I like to make lists of books to read too, but I'm terrible at sticking to them. I'll read one and then get distracted by something else. Haha. Some great reads on that list though!

15mellymel171328
Dec 31, 2010, 2:34 am

Thanks lol I hope I stick by it too I have never tried the challenge and I am unsure how I will do. (Lol) awe I just realized I got the clift note book on the time travelers wife ;( I was looking forward to reading that one as well.

I do that too, I have like five books half read. (Lol)

16mellymel171328
Edited: Jan 20, 2011, 2:38 pm

It took me longer then I intended but I finally finished my second book. #14 Last Sacrifice and I must admit that I was very pleased by it and for that reason I made sure I didn't devour it in one sitting. Richelle Mead has very much impressed me with her books but I must admit Vampire Academy has been my favorite. Not only do you end up loving and cheering on the characters but it is a very hard book to put down. I also must admit I so fell in love with Dimitri!

17mellymel171328
Jan 22, 2011, 6:41 pm

I must admit that I was slightly dissapointed in Grave Surprise it just didn't like she actually wanted to write th book (or at least that is my impression.) Harper in the first book had been one of my favorite characters I thought it was very unique that she could feel the cause of death from dead people. The story was a bit see through for me but the strange little fit Harper threw in the hotel over something she thought about Tolliver was weird and just seemed out of character for her. I think I will at least give the third book a chance to see if maybe she was in a writing rut when she wrote this one?

Other then finding the book a bit stuffy and weird compared to her other words I have read I am sure there are plenty out there that would enjoy this book. The concept is very unique (at least I think it is) and it is worth giving it a try.

#17: I still need to get to the first book in the series which is hanging round my house somewhere :)

19mellymel171328
Jan 27, 2011, 4:57 am

#18 it is a very good book and very unique, though I still am disappointed in the second from the first.

20alcottacre
Jan 27, 2011, 5:00 am

Well then, maybe I will just quit the series after the first one - if I ever locate it, that is.

21mellymel171328
Jan 27, 2011, 5:10 am

I wonder the same thing but since the first one had been good and the second was filler it makes me curious on the third. Sad how that works out right? Lol

True!

Jan 27, 2011, 5:26 am

Any good books recently? I am trying to get into Twilight's Ashes it had such potential to be a good book but I think it was over thought.

24alcottacre
Jan 27, 2011, 5:27 am

I see you enjoy the paranormal romances. Have you tried any of Christine Feehan's? She writes 3 separate series: The Dark Series, The Ghostwalkers, and The Drake Sisters. I love her books.

25mellymel171328
Jan 27, 2011, 5:32 am

I honestly have never heard of her but I will check her out. Heather Webber is another good paranormal mystery writer, have you read Truly Madly?

26alcottacre

Yes, I have read that one. It is the only one in the series I have been able to get my hands on thus far though.

Jan 27, 2011, 6:00 am

My husband has work at 4 am so I tend to try to keep his schedule. Though by 9 am I end up taking a nap because I have been so exhausted recently.

30alcottacre
Jan 27, 2011, 6:02 am

Yeah, my hubby is up now and fixing to leave for work. Once he is gone, I will head to bed. He works days and I work nights, so our schedules never meld.

31mellymel171328
Jan 27, 2011, 6:06 am

That would be tough, I would miss the alone time I have with my husband if that happened. We figured if I ever needed to work we would do that so the baby will always have a parent home.

32alcottacre
Jan 27, 2011, 6:14 am

That was our thinking with the girls too. Luckily for us, it worked out well. They are both grown now although still living at home. I am a night owl by nature, so being up at night has never been a hardship.

I really wanted to like Twilight's Ashes it had such an interesting concept that I had been very sure I would love it. Though once I took a glance through the book it quickly felt like such a daunting read, not only did it have a Prelude and a Prologue it also seemed to have appendixes to explain everything. I have never found a book with so much to it to devour and think about and to be honest it all just gave me a headache. After I got past the idea of all the appendixes I gave the book a read and was honestly overwhelmed, I just found the wording a bit much. The first encounter with the all knowing higher power goddess just reminded me of an old school teaching video with the annoying narrator going, "well this is what this means, isn't it so neat to learn and let me bring you through this mythical portal to show you what I mean."

Over all it has such an interesting concept and way to look at things that I wouldn't not give it a chance. I very much recommend it as a book to give a chance after all you might be surprised and you might like it. I honestly think this author has such great potential if he can just make things less wordy and less like a college literature book. I guess that was the other thing that got me, was the fact it reminded me of a college literature book, it was just a bit too much and like I said before I have never seen a book have so many appendixes.

I had a slight scare tonight I had some spotting went to the E.R. got checked up... Blood work is fine, everything came back fine... The baby is moving with a healthy heartbeat and I am on bed rest for two weeks but keeping me and the baby healthy right now is all that matters. Just wanted to update family so no one will worry, the baby is so precious and beautiful!

I hope you take care of yourself and your baby. I know how scary a bloodclot can be I had one the size of my fist with my first son. Just take it easy and be up as little and unstreniously as possible.

When I was pregnant with my first, Dr. T. Berry Brazelton was the baby guru du jour. I liked his casual and matter of fact way of childcare. He also had a TV program and he would sit with a baby in his lap talking to moms while the kiddies were crawling and cruising around the set.

Another day and more voting http://www.medelabreastfeedingus.com/keep-the-connection-photo-detail/1584 if you haven't voted please go. I hate to bug yall and be so aggressive about this but this item is worth up to $500.00 and is the best on the market. I lost it last month and I would really love to win it this month, I am about 20 or so votes in the lead and I want to stay there.

After you vote you have to go confirm an email they send you. I really could use this item and I hate doing this but if I can continue to get votes I can stay int he lead and actually win this item. (It is the last item I need for the baby!)

Sep 16, 2011, 8:16 pm

I am sorry it took me so long to post his picture but I have been so busy :) but that is a good thing! My little story, I went in for the induction and ended up with an 8 hour labor and when they tried to get it to go faster they popped my water and after that with each contraction his heart started to drop. Some as low as in the 70s and he was in obvious distress, so I ended up in a csection. Which turned out to be a good choice because his cord was really tight around his neck, it wasn't allowing him to drop into the birth canal like he was supposed too and if we would of went longer it would of been bad for the both of us. Well he was born September 13th and 1:44 P.M. with a very loud cry! heh 7 LBS 21 1/2 Inches long.
