This is a children's or YA novel that I read around 1980. It's about a family (I think in England?) where mom & dad need to leave the country for awhile; they hire a nanny to care for the three kids (teen girl and boy and then a younger boy). I think the POV is the girl but I'm not sure.
Anyway, mysterious things start happening... I remember for sure that the nanny can no longer get out of bed, and it snows one night even though it has never ever snowed before.
Older brother and sister become suspicious of the little boy and eventually learn that he's practicing some kind of voodoo or witchcraft -- they find a doll of the nanny in a little handmade bed and other evidence. They also find out that he ordered a book teaching him how to do these things.
Any ideas?

I've read the descriptions and I'm almost positive you're right! I've been asking teachers and librarians about this book for at least 20 years. Also, I didn't know it was part of a series... now I can read all three! THANK YOU!!!
