I have quite a few books on my tbr with names of colours; The Woman in White by Wilkie Collins, Through Black Spruce by Joseph Boyden, White Tiger by Aravind Adiga, The Red Queen by Margaret Drabble (Philippa Gregory also has one by the same title) and White Oleander by Janet Fitch to name just a few. I'll be starting this challenge with Black and Blue, an inspector Rebus mystery by Ian Rankin, and if I can fit more in the month I have plenty to choose from! You're welcome to add as many books to the challenge as you want, even if you're not sure you'll actually get to read them!

Here's a question for you: does the colour mentioned in the title have anything to do with the story?

Here's a link to the TIOLI Main Thread for January
The following link will take you to the TIOLI wiki page for challenges 8-14

I will be reading The White Family by Maggie Gee for this challenge. From the reviews I have read of the book, I would say that the colour mentioned in the title is very appropriate to the book.

Stasia, fyi this is listed under Challenge #1, with a few others for a shared read.

#3: Thanks for the heads up, Terri. I guess I had better go move it.

Ilana, I will be back with another book to add to your challenge!

ETA: OK, I am good. I had already put The White Family in challenge #1 and added A Dry White Season to this challenge. I just managed to completely confuse myself. Something not very hard to do :)

LOL. Not a problem in the least. And yes, I did recall seeing A Dry White Season in the colour challenge since I added the link to the main page for it. But I can see it would be easy enough to get confused!

Next time, I will have to choose books that have different colors in the title obviously!

Didn't see this thread before, I am reading The Black Rood by Stephen Lawhead. A historical fiction about the Crusades.

instead I went for The Blue Sword (a wonderful reread) and The Girl in the Green Raincoat (a rather disappointing new read).

Oops, not sure what happened, I didn't get notification of new posts here, sorry!

#7 I hope you enjoyed/are enjoying The Black Rood Judy!

#9 I'm sorry to hear the Girl in the Green Raincoat wasn't great, but then it's always so pleasing to re-read a book we already love!

I finished White Nights by Ann Cleeves last night. It was a great book. I'm glad it's finally out of my TBR pile.

Do I get double points for reading a book with two colors in it?

I'm halfway through Orange Is the New Black: My Year in a Women's Prison by Piper Kerman. Very interesting.

If I could grant you that, I would! :-)

#11 I was looking forward to starting that series this month but I haven't gotten my Santa Thing books yet, which includes Raven Black.

#16 Still haven't gotten your SantaThing books? I was despairing of getting mine when the last of them came in last week. Hope for your sake they come in soon.

#17 No, nothing yet, though on one of the threads, someone else from the Chicago area reported getting one.

Do you have any idea what's coming your way or is it a total surprise?

#19 I had to look. I wanted to start buying books again after the holidays and didn't want to buy duplicates.

I didn't investigate beyond seeing which authors my Santa chose for me. I didn't look to see what the books were about or anything.

#20 I know where you're coming from Linda. I didn't mind the waiting before my SantaThing books came, but it was hard stopping myself from buying books to ensure I didn't buy duplicates.

#21 Do you have the intention of reading ALL OF THOSE this month?

I've got one more "colorful" book left this month, though I probably won't get to it til later. The final book (because the author died unexpectedly) in the Purple Sage mystery series, Skeletons in Purple Sage by Barbara Burnett Smith.

#23 You've still got 10 days to do so. Plenty of time!

#24 By all means do go ahead and link us up with your reviews if possible!

I started reading Black and Blue by Ian Rankin during the read-a-thon yesterday. I hadn't realised how hefty it is until I picked it up!

Finished The Yellow Wallpaper today. What a quirky little book... I liked it!

I've added Beyond Black to this category. It took a long while to get into it, but I'm glad I've read it now. The title does have something to do with the story - the phrase 'beyond black' occurs once about 2/3 through the book, and when it does the title makes sense...

#31 What fun suggestions! Some of them, like The Red Tent and The Golden Compass I've read before. Some I hadn't heard of and others... might be stretching the notion of colour a little, but if "lemony" is a colour to you, then who am I to argue? :-)
