I've decided to withdraw from this LT-FS forum.

I guess I've just come to a place where I am convinced the FS have gone down the route of money-making rather than running a worthwhile AND profitable business.

For me that means they will not change their profiteering nature and likewise I will continue to fight against it when I am confronted by injustice.

This will continue to haunt the forum and since the FS couldn't give a fiddler's fart about you guys, I certainly can and drop the subject altogether.

I am writing to FS tonight to delete me from their database etc.

I wish all of you well and will be around LT otherwise but not on here.

And if they change to a an equitable pricing system, I might see you all again on equal terms! I'm not holding my breath :-)

Good luck.

>1 LesMiserables:

I don't see the point in withdrawing from this forum. Your frustration is understandable, but this forum doesn't set FS pricing policy.

Most of your posts have been about subjects other than 'pricing' and many of them have been to do with literature, books and associated discussions in general.

I enjoy your posts and always feel that you add a valuable voice to the subjects you comment upon.

You have fought hard to highlight the unfair pricing policy of the FS and should feel good about that.

To leave this forum doesn't change what the FS do, but will, in my opinion, diminish this forum - I don't see the point in that.

Please re-consider.

Oh, come on, Les Mis! I agree with celtic. Please reconsider. Why punish us for something not of our doing? I would say that a great many would continue to enjoy your posts.

Every forum needs a curmadgeon. I think you are one of the best. Please stick around.

And...if the books ever get cheaper in Australia..I'll dips my lid to you...

I can imagine your motivation, LesMis, but also want to state I enjoy reading your posts on Folio titles. They'd be missed.

LesMis, you are a valuable member of this forum. Battles are lost everyday, but life and sometimes the “war” continues. Please reconsider.

Stick around Steve. If you go, who's going to tear down all our pesky strawmen?

I have to agree with the others, it's nice having you and your opinions around. I think this forum would be lessened by your leaving. Besides, since you're fighting for something you believe in, isn't it your duty to keep fighting and keep attracting new recruits!

I would miss all the passive-agressive commie rant, LesMis :) But this is long-term, so keep it subtle pal, and save your energies. The first rule of an e-activist is avoiding that any given relative of Rose Nylund can build a spam case with the web admin:)

If Ya'all can stand it, I'll add one more mutual and complete agreement with all that has already been said. Please stay with this forum, Les Mis.

The problem for me (and I suspect for LM) is that you lose all enthusiasm for the books themselves when you've had enough of the FS. I'm still following this group, because overall it is one of the most interesting communities around, but my interest in FS has been leached steadily and inexorably by each new episode of FS seeking to plunder my 'tribe' (and, by extension, me) for additional finances.

I feel like the rich guy who is allowed to join the upperclass club because he pays them a lot of money. He will continue to be tolerated as long as he keeps paying up, but will never be 'one of them' because he didn't go to the right school.

For me, the FS pricing outrage was worth fighting against while I cared enough about their books to be upset about how badly I was overcharged. Now that they have cured me of my obsession for their books, I no longer care about the FS itself.

I will, however, remain on their mailing lists. Maybe, one day the Aussie gold mine will peter out and they will have to resort to actually offering their products at fair prices.

Cheers, guys.

I hope you do not leave the forum as in enjoy your posts. You could still be a member her and get FS editions via the used market I guess for example.

Very well said vat1sem; Steve you know you got my support and will see you over at the LOA forum.

Please stay LM, we talk about so many other things on these boards that you can still be a part of. I was active on this forum for several years before I actually joined the Folio Society and I still found plenty to talk about. I know their treatment of you and your fellow Aussies has been tough and I understand your lack of enthusiasm, but think, if you leave here you won't have anybody sympathetic to moan to!

>1 LesMiserables: Well, LesMis, should you leave I will miss the rare combination of logic and guts your words have exemplified. We are diminished without you.

I wish you would not leave us, but if you do, I wish you all the happiness in the world!

It is always fun to unearth old threads and seeing as you are around, as we approach the 13th anniversary of this post, have they changed - if for the worse? And do they still not give a fiddler's fart even on a windy day? :)

The most dignified way to leave a forum is always just to stop posting. Basic Drama Queen 101.
